Meet one of our Promise Babies: Elizabeth!


Elizabeth Joanne, daughter of Jon and Mylidiah Korthuis of Ireton, IA, was born 6:12 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, in their home, weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and measuring 19 inches. She has a sister, Jennifer, 18 months. Her grandparents are Harold and Amy Korthuis of Willmar, MN, and John and Joanne Cave of Ireton, IA.

Meet one of our Promise Babies: Brycn!


Brycn Lawrence, son of Alanzo and Bailey Ruble of Sioux Falls, SD, was born 1:23 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, in their home, weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and measuring 22 inches. His grandparents are Kallie and Dave Morrow and April and Victor Nichols of Cherokee, IA.

Certified nurse midwives Pam Hulstein and Belinda Lassen of Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy.

The family appreciated the care they received and the home birth experience.

"It was everything I imagined and more," Bailey said. "I couldn't have asked for a better pregnancy and birth. We loved both of our midwives!"

was born 4:37 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, in their home, weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces, and measuring 22 inches. Her grandparents are Janelle Jansen of Ashton, SD; Wendell and Robin Sandbulte of Hull, IA; and Elson and Deb Schut of Sioux Center, IA.

was born 2:50 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018, in their home, weighing 8 pounds, 14 ounces, and measuring 22 inches. His grandparents are John and Sophia Meek of Hastings, MI, and Randy and Gail Harlow of Sioux Center, IA.

This was a second generation baby for Lassen. She delivered Benjamin's mom, Miranda, in April 1996.
