Meet one of our Promise Babies: Benjamin!


Benjamin Dean, son of Jeremy and Miranda Meek of Orange City, IA, 
was born 2:50 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018, in their home, weighing 8 pounds, 14 ounces, and measuring 22 inches. His grandparents are John and Sophia Meek of Hastings, MI, and Randy and Gail Harlow of Sioux Center, IA.

Certified nurse midwife Belinda Lassen of Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth. Registered nurse Kari Ney also assisted with the birth.


This was a second generation baby for Lassen. She delivered Benjamin's mom, Miranda, in April 1996.

Diana Ella, daughter of John and Amanda Lynch of Marcus, IA, was born 11:38 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2018, weighing 6 pounds, 10 ounces, and measuring 20 1/4 inches. Her grandparents are Dora Lynch of Garden City, KS, and Mike and Pam Hulstein of Sioux Center, IA.

She has three siblings, Micah, 7; Gideon, 4; and Meadow, 2. Her grandparents are Ken and Ida Evertse of Hull, IA, and Jan and Gayle Neels of Ontario, Canada.

Ellie Mae, daughter of Matt and Amanda Long of Orange City, IA, 
was born 9:17 a.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018, in their home. She has a sister, Emma, 2.

Weston Reed, son of Ashley and Jesse Maassen, 
was born 3:34 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018, in their rural Sioux County home near Hudson, SD, weighing 9 pounds, 4 ounces, and measuring 22.5 inches. He has three brothers, Kendan, 8; Braylon, 6; and Rylan, 2. His grandparents are Tim and Kelly Van Ginkel of Rock Valley, IA, and Tom and Paula Maassen of Rock Valley.
