Meet the latest Promise Baby: Armour!


Armour Jolon, son of Justine and Justin Draayer of Boyden, IA, was born 10:21 p.m. Monday, July 25, in his home, weighing 7 pounds and measuring 20 inches. He has three siblings, Sage, 6; Sori, 4; and Acacia, 2.

Certified nurse midwife Belinda Lassen of Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center provided the prenatal care for the family, as she had for their three previous children, and assisted with the home birth, as she had with their previous child.

Center in Sioux Center, holds baby Melissa, with her
sister, Isabela, and brother, Carlos, joining them for
photo. Lassen provided prenatal care for the family.

Meet one of the latest Promise Babies: Everly!


Everly, daughter of Joni Nibbelink of Hospers, IA, was born 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, in her home, weighing 6 pounds, 10 ounces, and measuring 20 inches. She has four siblings, Berlin, 12; Odessa, 10; Vienna, 9; and Brogan, 7.

Certified nurse midwife Belinda Lassen of Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center provided the prenatal care for the family, as she had for three of Joni's previous children, and assisted with the home birth.

This was Joni's first home birth experience, however.

"It was amazing, absolutely everything about it," she said, noting that her other children could be an integral part of the experience following the birth and the home environment was much more pleasant. "It was just a very comfortable and relaxing aftermath."

Meet one of the latest Promise Babies: Myles!


Myles Nixon, son of Alison and Tyler Vellinga of Orange City, IA, was born 7:23 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, in his home, weighing 9 pounds and measuring 22 inches. He has three siblings, Caden, 12; Addi, 8; and Colin, 2.

Certified nurse midwife Belinda Lassen of Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center provided the prenatal care for the family and assisted with the home birth.

This was Alison's first home birth experience.

"It was great," she said. "It was so much more relaxed and comforting because you are at home. Belinda and her nurses do a great job to make you feel comfortable and at peace in your environment."
