Meet one of our Promise Babies: Addison!


Addison Belle, daughter of Nathan and Alissa Van Zweden of Hull, IAwas born 1:22 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019, in their home, weighing 9 pounds, 4 ounces, and measuring 22 inches. She has two brothers, Noah, 7, and Aiden, 4.

Certified nurse midwife Belinda Lassen of Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth.

Addison. She was born on Tuesday, April 16, in
their home in Hull with the assistance of Promise
Community Health Center midwife Belinda Lassen.

Meet one of our Promise Babies: Ruben!


Ruben Thomas Skrenes was born Wednesday, April 3, 2019, in his home, weighing 9 pounds, 4 ounces, and measuring 22 1/2 inches.

Certified nurse midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth. Registered nurse Kari Ney also assisted with the home birth.


The family appreciated the experience.

"Our home birth was awesome. The combination of midwife, nurse and doula was perfect for us."

Meet one of our Promise Babies: Isla!


Isla Maurice, daughter of Calvin and Kristine Thiessen of Spirit Lake, IA, was born 12:13 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2019, in their home, weighing 5 pounds, 14 ounces, and measuring 20 inches. She has a brother, Cooper, 3.

Certified nurse midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth.


Kristine Thiessen holds her baby, Isla. She and
her husband, Calvin, welcome baby Isla into
their family on Monday, April 1. She was born
in their Spirit Lake home with the assistance
of Promise CHC midwife Pam Hulstein.

Meet one of our Promise Babies: Aria!


Aria Grace, daughter of Will and Lindsey Warntjes of Boyden, IA, was born 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2019, in their home, weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and measuring 21 1/2 inches. She has four siblings, Carmen, 10; Colton, 8; Liam, 6; and Ava Lynne, 4. Her grandparents are Daryl and LaVonne Warntjes and Alan and Avis Bakker.

Certified nurse midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth.


"It went very well  — much less stressful," Will said.
