Meet one of our Promise Babies: Zev!

Zev Alexander, son of Brittany and Jeremy Gerdeman of Lake Park, IA, was born 2:12 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, in his home, weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and measuring 20 1/2 inches. He has three siblings, Bianca, 8; Seraphina, 6; and Jaxzen, 2.

Certified nurse midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth.

This was Brittany's first home-birth experience.

"It was great," she said. "It was very personal and hands-on. We were so excited to deliver at home. It would be something we would do again."
