Meet one of our Promise Babies: Bella!

Bella Ruby, daughter of Sarah and Eric Bautista of Inwood, IA, was born 5 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, in her home, weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and measuring 20 inches. She has a brother, Oliver, 6.

Certified nurse midwife Belinda Lassen of Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth. Nurse Kari Ney also assisted with the birth.

Sarah received midwifery care from Belinda with her previous child, but this was her first home birth.

"I would definitely do it this way again," she said. "Recovery time was faster. I felt better right away. I liked that I could walk around and do whatever and not be tied to a bed."

Sarah Bautista holds her baby, Bella.
She and her husband, Eric, welcomed
baby Bella into their family on Saturday,
Jan. 14. She was born in their Inwood home
with the assistance of midwife Belinda Lassen
of Promise Community Health Center.
