Meet one of our Promise Babies: Jalissa!


Jalissa Promise, daughter of Luke and Lori Decker of rural Canton, SD, was born 9:14 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in her home, weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and measuring 21 1/2 inches. She has four siblings, Marcus, 7; Jared, 6; Lauren, 4; and Amara, 2.

Certified nurse midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth.


Lori has experienced home births with her other children, but this was her first time receiving care from a Promise midwife.

"We loved working with Pam and the people at Promise," she said. "Thank you."
