Meet one of our Promise Babies: Max!


Max Herman, son of Aaron and Kara Bouma of Le Mars, IA, was born 1:53 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019, in their home, weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and measuring 20 inches. He has four siblings, Paxton, 8; Sam, 6; Camden, 4; and Ann, 2. His grandparents are Alice and Lyle Krienert and Don and Linda Bouma.

Certified nurse midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth. Registered nurse Erica Robertson also assisted with the home birth.


"I loved my experience with my midwife and my home birth," Kara said. "Pam and Erica made me feel so comfortable during my pregnancy and after."


Kara Bouma holds her baby, Max. She and her
husband, Aaron, welcomed baby Max into their
family on Saturday, June 29. He was born in
their Le Mars home with the assistance of
midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise CHC.
