Meet one of our Promise Babies: Peter!


Peter Jaron, son of Jaron and Elizabeth Wilson of Paullina, IA, was born 10:45 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019, in their home, weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and measuring 21 inches. He has a brother, Walter, 2 1/2.

Certified nurse midwife Belinda Lassen of Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth.


"We loved our second home-birth experience with Belinda Lassen," Elizabeth said. "We were blessed to have everything go smoothly and quickly and enjoyed relaxing after the birth at home. We are very thankful to Belinda and her team!"

Meet one of our Promise Babies: Max!


Max Herman, son of Aaron and Kara Bouma of Le Mars, IA, was born 1:53 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019, in their home, weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and measuring 20 inches. He has four siblings, Paxton, 8; Sam, 6; Camden, 4; and Ann, 2. His grandparents are Alice and Lyle Krienert and Don and Linda Bouma.

Certified nurse midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth. Registered nurse Erica Robertson also assisted with the home birth.


"I loved my experience with my midwife and my home birth," Kara said. "Pam and Erica made me feel so comfortable during my pregnancy and after."

Hezekiah Cole, son of Lauren and Levi Hertz of Menno, SD, was born 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019, in their home, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and measuring 22 inches.

Meet one of our Promise Babies: Raylen!


Raylen Charles, son of Rod and Liza of Cherokee, IA, was born 6:57 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2019, in their home, weighing 8 pounds and measuring 21 inches. He has three siblings, Skyler, 14; Rowen, 5; and Anna, 3.

Certified nurse midwife Belinda Lassen of Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth.


"My family and I have felt very cared for through the pregnancy, birth and post-birth process," Liza said. "Being in the comfort of our home has proven to aid in the smooth delivery — optimal health for myself while healing as well as our baby boy who is very content. I attest this all to the calm and gentle nature of home birth and that great caregivers offer."

Auren Indiana Thomas, daughter of Kelsie Jo Thomas and Anthony Craig Helland of Sioux Falls, SD, was born 3:04 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019, in her home, weighing 8 pounds and measuring 21 inches. Her grandparents are Rosemary Dickens-Helland of Sioux Falls and Mark Thomas of Alexandria, SD.

Certified nurse midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy. Certified nurse midwife Belinda Lassen of Promise attended the home birth.


The couple appreciated the care that they received from Promise's midwives.

"We loved the care, intention and attention offered to us by the Promise CHC midwifery team during both prenatal care and during our home birth. It was everything we desired and more!"
