Meet one of the latest Promise Babies: Myles!

Myles Nixon, son of Alison and Tyler Vellinga of Orange City, IA, was born 7:23 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, in his home, weighing 9 pounds and measuring 22 inches. He has three siblings, Caden, 12; Addi, 8; and Colin, 2.

Certified nurse midwife Belinda Lassen of Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center provided the prenatal care for the family and assisted with the home birth.

This was Alison's first home birth experience.

"It was great," she said. "It was so much more relaxed and comforting because you are at home. Belinda and her nurses do a great job to make you feel comfortable and at peace in your environment."

Alison and Tyler Vellinga and brother Colin welcomed
baby Myles into their family. He was born July 20 in
their Orange City home with the assistance of Promise
Community Health Center midwife Belinda Lassen.
