Meet one of our Promise Babies: Nora!

Nora Marie, daughter of Brooke and Conor Bertling of Le Mars, SD, was born 4:05 a.m. Thursday, April 20, in her home, weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and measuring 20 1/2 inches. She is the family's first child.

Certified nurse midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth.

Brook said it was an all-around good experience.

"We went into this experience thinking we were interested in a home birth," she said. "After all of our meetings with our midwife and the experiences we've had with Promise, we are very pleased with our decision. We had great confidence in our midwife and nurse to deliver our baby safely and naturally. We have no regrets and would recommend a home-birth experience to other parents."

Brooke and Conor Bertling welcomed baby
Nora into their family on Thursday, April 20.
She was born in their home in Le Mars, IA,
with the assistance of midwife Pam Hulstein
of Promise Community Health Center.
